WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –
Martin Nygaard's set piece goal during the 61st minute of Saturday night's CAA match at William & Mary put the Northeastern men's soccer team in front, 2-1, despite Ryder Bell answering back for the Tribe less than three minutes later as the two sides played to the 2-2 draw at Albert-Daly Field.
Â
From the top right corner of the 18-yard box, Nygaard brushed the top of the William & Mary wall with his free kick, which used the deflection to bend under the crossbar for the senior's first goal of the season (fourth career goal).
Â
Minutes later, Bell responded with a series of back-and-forth cuts along the left flank, right-footing his attempt from 15 yards away off the right netting to level the match at 2-2.
Â
Northeastern (3-5-1, 1-1-1 CAA) fell behind, 1-0, during the 24th minute, when Antonio Bustamante drove his 20-yard, straightaway free kick through the Huskies' wall and inside the left post.
Â
NU equalized during the 55th minute, receiving a fortunate break as William & Mary (2-6-2, 0-1-2 CAA) cleared
Tyler Welch's cross along the left end line into its own net.
Â
Chandler Cree recorded a season high, five saves, during his second career start.
Â
With the draw, Northeastern secured its first away point at William & Mary since the 2012 season.
