WORCESTER, Mass. – The No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team saw its 12-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Friday night as Holy Cross earned its first win of the season in a 5-3 decision at Hart Center Rink.

Goals by freshman Alina Mueller and sophomore Veronika Pettey gave Northeastern (12-2-2, 11-1-2 WHEA) a 2-0 lead after one, but it was all Holy Cross (1-14-2, 1-10-0 WHEA) after that as the Crusaders scored five of the final six goals to hand the Huskies their first loss since Oct. 12.

Holy Cross' Rachel Moore broke a 2-2 tie just 25 seconds into the third period, before Maeve Reilly added a fourth goal at 6:48 of the frame to make it 4-2 Crusaders.

Freshman Chloe Aurard brought Northeastern back within one at 9:06, but Holy Cross quickly responded on Moore's second of the night at 10:15 to round out the scoring.

Jada Brenon stopped 34 of 37 NU shots to earn the win, while Brittany Bugalski took the loss with 12 saves.

The Huskies will wrap up the first semester on Sunday against the Crusaders at 2 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
