BOSTON – Northeastern Athletics is excited to announce that numerous improvements are coming to the Marino Recreation Center, which will result in an enhanced experience for all visitors beginning in January.
Changes to the Marino Center include:
• Extensive floor reconditioning on all floor surfaces
• Floor re-screening of the basketball courts
• Resurfacing of the shower area walls in both locker rooms
• Locker repairs in the men and women's locker rooms
• Deep cleaning of numerous activity areas
• Extensive painting throughout the facility
• Re-organization and upgrades to select equipment
In order to complete these improvements, the Marino Recreation Center will be closed from Monday, December 17, 2018 through Tuesday, January 1, 2019, a period when the average number of visitors per day is at its lowest of the year.
Northeastern is pleased to be able to offer alternate locations for member workouts at SquashBusters and the YMCA of Greater Boston located at 316 Huntington Avenue, the latter of which will be available to members to use at no additional cost. A valid Husky Card, along with a government issued ID, must be presented upon entering the facility.

The Marino Center, with its architecture and state-of -the-art fitness and recreation amenities, is an 81,000 square-foot building that was voted one of the top ten recreational facilities in the country. The center, which opened in the Fall of 1996, is utilized for intramural and club sports, drop-in recreation, instructional programs, personal training and group fitness. The entire center serves the varied physical and recreational needs of Northeastern's diverse population.
