BOSTON – Four different scorers found the back of the net and sophomore goaltender
Aerin Frankel made 29 saves as the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team skated to a 4-1 victory over No. 10 Boston College on Friday night at Matthews Arena.
The Huskies (15-2-3, 13-1-2 WHEA) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and never looked back to earn their second win over Boston College (13-9-0, 10-7-0 WHEA) this season – the first time Northeastern has beaten BC twice in a season since 2013.
Senior
Tori Sullivan, freshman
Chloe Aurard and junior
Andrea Renner scored in the opening 20 minutes, and senior
Kasidy Anderson tacked on a late empty-netter to extend her goal streak to four straight games. Freshman
Alina Mueller picked up the lone assist on Anderson's goal to push her point-streak to an NCAA-best 19 straight games.
Daryl Watts scored the only goal for Boston College late in the second period to pull the Eagles within two goals, but Frankel held the fort from there with 14 stops in the final period to preserve her 10th victory of the season.
Frankel was also helped by an incredible sliding block from sophomore
Skylar Fontaine in the final minutes to deny Watts a second goal.
The Huskies and Eagles will round out the weekend on Saturday with their third and final scheduled meeting set for 2 p.m. at Conte Forum.
