BROOKLINE, Mass.— Liam Murphy equalized for the Northeastern men's soccer team in the 12th minute of action, as the Huskies tied with the Hartford Hawks, 1-1, in double overtime on Tuesday evening at Parsons Field.
Northeastern (5-3-2, 2-1-1 CAA) went down 1-0 to Hartford (6-2-1, 1-0-0 AE) in the fourth minute of action as Rasmus Karlsson capitalized on a loose ball in the Huskies half of the field and found the back of the net for the Hawks.
Just eight minutes later, the Huskies found their equalizer as
Liam Murphy scored his second goal of the year. Murphy's goal came from the left-side of the box as
Benjamin Klingen corralled the ball, passed it to
Jacob Marin-Thomson who eventually found Murphy for the score.
The scoring would end in the first half for both teams, as the game ticked away through double overtime. The Huskies outshot the Hawks 20-11 overall and had nine shots on goal to Hartford's four. Murphy led Northeastern with three shots on goal, while
Frankie de la Camara and
Timothy Ennin chipped in two shots on goal each.
Noah Abrams had three saves on the evening, with one of his best coming in the 97th minute of the first overtime period to preserve the tie.
