No. 3 Northeastern blitzes Maine 6-1

Alina Mueller led the Huskies with two goals and two assists in the victory

ORONO, Maine - Alina Mueller (Winterthur, Switzerland) had two goals and two assists while Aerin Frankel (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.)  made 24 saves to help the Northeastern women's hockey team (4-0) defeat the Maine Black Bears (2-2-1) 6-1 at Alfond Arena in their first Hockey East match of the year.

Freshman Jess Schryver (Ansonia, Conn.) opened up the scoring for the Huskies in Orono with her first career collegiate goal coming at the 8:57 mark in the first period. No less than 13 seconds after her tally, Matti Hartman (Etna, N.H.) extended the lead on her third goal of the year to put the Huskies up 2-0 at the 8:44 mark in the first. From then on it was a goal scoring Affair with Chloe Aurard (Villard-de-Lans, France), Mia Brown (South Woodstock, V.T.) and Mueller each putting goals in for the Howlin Huskies.

Mueller lead the team in scoring by posting two goals and two assists while extending her point total to 13 through the first four games. Aurard and Paige Capistran (Manchester, N.H.) followed suit with pairs of assists on the night, with the latter posting her first points of the year.

The Huskies will be back home at Historic Matthews Arena on Sunday, October 20th when they take on New Hampshire in another Hockey East matchup at 3 p.m. The back-to-back Hockey East Champions will have a banner raising ceremony before they commence their first home game of the year.
