Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

No. 13 Huskies tie Merrimack, 1-1

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.— Craig Pantano recorded a season-high 37 saves, as the No. 13 Northeastern men's hockey team tied with the Merrimack Warriors 1-1 in the opening game of the home-and-home series.

Pantano was on another level for the Huskies, as he turned away shot after shot from his former school, with 15 saves in the second period alone. However, Merrimack (2-6-1, 1-2-1) was able to sneak one past him off a power-play goal in the first period at the 6:11 mark to go up 1-0.

Matt Demelis led the come-from-behind equalizing effort for the Huskies' as he tallied his second goal of the season 10 minutes after the Warriors got on the board to put the score at 1-1. Biagio Lerario and John Picking had the assists, on Northeastern's (4-3-2, 1-2-1) lone goal of the evening.

As the game ticked by the remaining two periods and overtime, neither team would be able to find the back of the net and the two sides had to settle for the tie.

Ryan Shea was also a force on the defensive end for the Huskies, finishing with four blocks on the evening. Shea now leads the Huskies with 11 blocks on the season.
