BOSTON -- The spring semester was an extremely successful one athletically for the Northeastern student-athletes, but they found plenty of success in the classroom as well. The student-athletes posted a 3.299 cumulative Spring 2019 grade point average, the highest spring GPA on record for the athletics department and the 23rd straight semester student-athletes have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Â
The swimming and diving team achieved the highest team GPA, compiling an impressive 3.719 average. Volleyball (3.591), field hockey (3.533), and women's rowing (3.526) all posted above 3.5 averages for the women. Just like in the fall, cross country led the men's teams, improving upon their 3.400 average a semester ago with a spring GPA of 3.416. Rowing (3.242) and track and field (3.189) rounded out the top three on the men's side.
Â
In total, 28 student-athletes received a perfect 4.0 GPA. 62 achieved Top Dog status with at least a 3.8 GPA, and 131 made the Dean's List with a 3.5-plus average.Â
Â
When looking at the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters combined, the 2018-2019 academic year saw Northeastern's student-athletes amass a 3.261 cumulative GPA.
