BOSTON—
Northeastern Fernie Flaman Men's Hockey Coach Jim Madigan announced Monday that Craig Pantano and Brendan van Riemsdyk will join the Huskies for the 2019-20 season as graduate transfers. The duo arrives on Huntington Avenue after playing three seasons at Merrimack and New Hampshire, respectively.

Pantano and van Riemsdyk join an incoming class of 12 for the Huskies, including Jeremie Bucheler, Matt DeMelis, Riley Hughes, Mike Kesselring, Aidan McDonough, Alex Mella, Connor Murphy, Neil Shea, Tyler Spott and TJ Walsh.

"We're excited to announce a brand new class coming to the Northeastern men's ice hockey program for this fall," Madigan said. "This is the hard work of Jerry Keefe and Jason Smith during the course of the last 1-2 years attracting such a wonderful class of young men who have high character and who are real good hockey players who will contribute to our success immediately."

"We lost some goal scorers and some playmakers, along with some gritty two-way wingers, and I think we've addressed that with this year's class. As I said our staff did a tremendous job bringing in high-level talent to our program that will allow us to continue competing at the highest level in Hockey East and allow us to compete at the national level."

Pantano Before Northeastern: Two-year starter for Merrimack College, seeing action in 57 total games… Recorded a 2.87 goals against average, .902 save percentage and 1,368 saves in 3,097:28 of playing time over his career… Three-time Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week… Hockey East All-Academic Team selection in 2017-18… Owns five shutouts which are among the tops of any goaltender in the Division I/Hockey East era… Before Merrimack, played for the South Shore Kings of the USPHL from 2013-15.

Madigan on Pantano (WATCH): We're fortunate to have Craig join us as a grad transfer this year and we look for him to stabilize our goaltending position with the loss of Cayden Primeau. He has tremendous experience, is very quick and agile in net, and he comes to Northeastern with the ability to help lead our team this year to another championship. We look and expect him to come in and play a lot of games for Northeastern and he's excited to be a Husky.

Brendan van Riemsdyk  |  Forward |  6'3''  | 201  |  Left |  NHL: Free Agent
van Riemsdyk Before Northeastern: Three-year player for the University of New Hampshire, appearing in 106 games, tallying 20 goals and 24 assists… Recorded a career high ten goals in 2018-19, tied for second best at Merrimack… Played for the Islanders Hockey Club of the USPHL from 2014-16… USPHL Rookie of the Year in 2014-15.

Madigan on van Riemsdyk (WATCH): We're excited that Brendan's going to join us with one more year left of eligibility. He's a 6'3" left-winger with really good stick skills, hockey instincts and is very good around the net. We expect him to be in our top-six and play in special teams situations for our team and contribute offensively to our team. With losing seven forwards this year and gaining someone with Brendan's experience and seasoned understanding of Division I and Hockey East play, we're excited that he's going to be part of our program.
