BROOKLINE, Mass.— The Northeastern men's soccer team took on Massachusetts in the 2019 season opener, falling to the Minutemen, 1-0.
Massachusetts' Eric Eberl was able to score the lone goal of the match in the 50th minute. Eberl headed it home off a set piece given to the Minutemen just outside of Northeastern's box.
There were several good chances from the Huskies to even the match, most noticeably on an almost own goal by the Minutemen late the match.
Northeastern outshot the Minutemen, 17-15, while both teams had five shots on goal.
Junior goalkeeper
Noah Abrams got his first start of the season in goal, playing a full 90 minutes and ending the match with four saves.
