Huskies prevail, 2-1, over UMass Lowell

LOWELL, Mass.— Benjamin Klingen headed home the game-winner in the 72nd minute to give the Northeastern men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over UMass Lowell, and the Huskies second win in a row, on Tuesday night at Cushing Field.
 
In a back-and-forth game, Northeastern (2-2-0, 1-0-0 CAA) opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when sophomore Ryan Massoud finished off a pass from Klingen to put the Huskies ahead 1-0.  Klingen was credited with the first assist of his Northeastern career, while Massoud's goal was his first of the 2019 season.
 
As the clock switched to the second half, UMass Lowell (1-2-1) was able to find the equalizer in the 56th minute from German Fuentes. The goal from Fuentes was a strike from well outside the box that was able to find the back left corner of the net.
 
In the 72nd minute, freshman Bernardo Gracindo lined up to take a free kick for the Huskies, as the ball made it into the box, Klingen headed it home to seal the Northeastern win over the River Hawks.
 
Junior goalkeeper Noah Abrams claimed his second win of the season, seeing 90 minutes of action and making two saves.

Northeastern will return home to Parsons Field to host CAA opponent Delaware on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5 p.m.
