Dickson, Neuner pace Huskies at Nassaney Invitational

SMITHFIELD, R.I.— The Northeastern men's and women's cross country teams had a strong start to the 2019 season with both finishing in first place at the Nassaney Invitational hosted by Bryant University .
 
The first-place men's team, finished with four runners in the top five and an average time of 25:22.6 in the 8K. Cameron Dickson paced the men's team, coming in first place overall with a time of 25:04.8, closely followed by teammate Steven Flanagan who finished second with a time of 25:06.6.
 
Alexander Korczynski and Matthew Schaefer rounded out the top five, coming in fourth (25:17.0) and fifth (25:28.6), respectively. Patrick Mullen made the most of his Huskies debut, finishing in twelfth (25:55.9).
 
The first-place women's team finished with an average time of 18:38.0 in the 5K. The Huskies were led by freshman Madison Neuner who finished the women's 5K in fourth place with a time of 18:14.1.
 
The Huskies had three other women place in the top ten, including Louiza Wize in seventh (18:32.0), Kelsey Walak in eighth (18:33.2) and Juliet Bussell in tenth (18:44.7).

Northeastern will next compete at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown in Jamaica Plain, Mass. on Friday, Sept. 20.
