Two shorthanded goals send No. 3 Huskies past No. 8 Terriers

BOSTON— Alina Mueller and Skylar Fontaine each chipped in a shorthanded goal in the second period to push the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the No. 8 Boston University Terriers on Tuesday night at Matthews Arena.

The Huskies (22-3-1, 19-2-0 HEAW) fell behind 1-0 early after the Terrier's Deziray De Sousa slipped one in at the 7:54 mark in the first period. Alina Mueller launched the Huskies' comeback effort, notching her second shorthanded goal of the season at the 5:07 mark in the second period to tie the game at 1-1.

Skylar Fontaine then scored the game-winning goal just over five minutes later, punching in another shorthanded goal at the 10:26 mark in the second. Northeastern last scored two shorthanded goals in one game on Nov. 6, 2016 against Providence.

Aerin Frankel finished with 23 saves en route to collecting her 19th win of the season. The Huskies outshot Boston University (17-6-3, 12-6-3 HEAW), 31-24.
