Levi First Current NU Player Named to Canadian National Junior Team

BOSTON — Northeastern's Devon Levi is the first current Northeastern player to be named to Hockey Canada's National Junior Team. Levi will represent Team Canada in the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Junior Championship from Dec. 25-Jan. 5, 2021 in Canada.

The Quebec native is entering his freshman season with the Huskies after being drafted by the Florida Panthers in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft (story).

Before coming to Northeastern, he went 34-2-1 with the Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL during the 2019-20 season. Standing out amongst the league, Levi led the CCHL with a 1.47 GAA, a .941 save pct. while having eight shutouts and helping his team to first place. He was named CJHL Player of the Year and the CJHL MVP, along with earning the CJHL Top Goalie Award, the CJHL Top Rookie Award, the CCHL MVP Award, the CCHL Top Prospect Award and the CCHL Goaltender of the Year Award, plus the CCHL Lowest GAA Award and was named to the CCHL First All-Star Team. Along with his Northeastern teammates, Sam Colangelo and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine, Levi participated in the 2019 Junior A Challenge where he let in only three goals on 80 shots for Team Canada and was named MVP, winning the Silver Medal. 

Colangelo is currently with Team USA in Plymouth, Michigan vying for a spot on their roster for the World Junior Championship (story).

Former Northeastern star and current Dallas Stars defenseman Jamie Oleksiak played for Team Canada in the World Junior Championship following his career at Northeastern University.
