BOSTON - Katy Knoll scored a third period goal and
Aerin Frankel made 32 saves to lead No. 2 Northeastern (1-1, 1-1 HEA) in a 2-1 loss to No. 9 Boston College (5-3, 5-1 HEA) on Sunday inside Matthews Arena. The Huskies had 26 shots blocked and finished 0-for-3 on the power play.
The Eagles jumped out in front in the first period as Hannah Bilka scored on the power play as the second-ranked Huskies trailed after one. Neither team scored in the second period, and Knoll tied the game midway through the third period on a shot deflection and buried it from the top of the circle, assisted by
Peyton Anderson and
Skylar Fontaine. BC responded after a giveaway behind the net and the Eagles' Jillian Fey wrapped the puck around into the empty net.
The Huskies and Eagles split the home-and-home series. Northeastern will look to add some additional games to its schedule as soon as next weekend. An announcement should happen in the next couple of days.
