No. 3 Huskies claim Senior Day win over Warriors

BOSTON— Junior goaltender Aerin Frankel posted 25 saves to lead the No. 3 Northeastern women's hockey team to a 3-0 victory over the Merrimack Warriors on Senior Day at Matthews Arena. The Huskies ended the regular season with 28 victories, to tie a program record for most wins in a season.

Frankel recorded her second shutout in a row and 10th overall this season. The junior netminder now holds the Northeastern single season record with 10 shutouts, passing Erika Silva's (1999-00) record of nine. Additionally, Frankel is now tied with Chanda Gunn (2001-02) for most wins in a season with 23.

Alina Mueller once again got the scoring started for Northeastern (28-4-2, 24-3-0 HEAW) with a short-handed goal at the 9:31 mark of the first period. Mueller's lamp lighter was her ninth game-winning goal of the season, which is tied to lead all NCAA Division I players and is a Northeastern single season record.

Brooke Hobson and Mia Brown each potted goals for the Huskies in the second frame to push the final score to 3-0.

Merrimack's (5-24-5, 2-20-5 HEAW) goaltender Lea-Kristine Demers posted 38 saves in the loss.
