BOSTON — Craig Pantano made 29 saves, Matt Filipe and Aidan McDonough each tallied goals, and Ryan Shea added a pair of assists to lead No. 16 Northeastern (18-13-3, 11-12-1 Hockey East) in a 2-1 pivotal win over Boston University (13-13-8, 10-9-5 Hockey East) on Saturday afternoon at Agganis Arena.
With the win, the Huskies clinched a Hockey East playoff spot and will play UMass in the quarterfinals in Amherst.
It wasn't an easy win though as the Huskies went 5-for-6 on the penalty kill, including having to kill off a penalty for the final 1:44 of the game. Northeastern leads Hockey East in killing penalties at more than 87 percent.
Grant Jozefek and Zach Solow also had helpers on the day for the Huskies. Patrick Harper had the lone Terriers goal.
The Huskies and UMass will begin a best-of-three series on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center.
