Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

No. 4 Huskies advance to fourth straight Hockey East title game

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.— Junior blue-liner Skylar Fontaine potted two goals to lead the No. 4 Northeastern women's hockey team to a come-from-behind, 3-1, win over the University of Maine in the Hockey East semifinals on Saturday afternoon at Lawler Rink. With the victory, the Huskies advance to their fourth straight title game and will be seeking their third straight Hockey East championship.

After being held scoreless for the first two periods, Fontaine ignited the Huskies' offensive effort with a power-play goal just over a minute into the third period. Newly minted Hockey East Player of the Year, Alina Mueller, followed up Fontaine's goal with a tally of her own just under three minutes later to give Northeastern (31-4-2) a 2-1 lead.

Fontaine finished her night with an empty-net goal that sealed the 3-1 victory for the Huskies with 15 seconds remaining in the game. The East Greenwich, Rhode Island native has posted six points over her past two games.

Ida Press scored the lone goal for the Black Bears (15-14-8) on the power play, just under five minutes into the contest. Maine's goaltender Carly Jackson posted 35 saves in the loss.

Junior netminder Aerin Frankel improved her Hockey East playoff record to 11-0-0 and made 20 saves in her 26th win of the season.
