Northeastern Adds Five to Women's Hockey Program

BOSTON - The nationally-ranked Northeastern women's hockey program will be adding five new players, announced by head coach Dave Flint on Tuesday. Freshmen Ani FitzGerald, Molly Griffin, Abbey Marohn and Lily Yovetich will be joining the Huskies for the 2020-21 season. Transfer Maureen Murphy joins us from Providence College.

Ani FitzGerald
Position: Forward
Hometown: Shaker Heights, Ohio
Previous team: Toronto Aeros

Accolades
  • Competed one season in the PWHL with the Toronto Aeros, tallying nine goals, 10 assists and 19 points in 36 games
  • Played five seasons with Gilmour Academy
  • Helped lead Gilmour Academy to first-ever USA Hockey Nationals

Molly Griffin
Position: Forward
Hometown: Arlington, Mass.

Abbey Marohn
Position: Defense
Hometown: St. Joseph, Mich.
Previous team: Culver Academy

  • Helped lead Culver Academy to the AAA Mid-AM Regional Championship
  • Three-time USA Hockey National Development Camp attendee

Maureen Murphy
Position: Forward
Hometown: Buffalo, N.Y.
Previous team: Providence College

  • Had 48 goals, 34 assists and 82 points in 84 games over three seasons with the Friars
  • 10-time Hockey East Top Performer 
  • Hockey East Second Team All-Star (2019, 2018)

Lily Yovetich

Previous team: Ottawa Lady Senators

  • Posted nine goals and 23 assists in her 73 games with the Lady Senators of the PWHL (2018-20)
  • Captain of Lady Senators for the 2019-20 season
  • Played 38 games posting five assists with the Barrie Sharks of the PWHL (2017-18)
  • Won USA Nationals with the Anaheim Lady Ducks 16U team
  • Provincial Women's Hockey Playoff appearance
