AMHERST, Mass. – Zach Solow had his fourth,
Aidan McDonough with his third and an assist, plus
Dylan Jackson with his first career goal to lead No.10 Northeastern (3-3-2) in a 5-3 loss at No. 9 UMass (8-3-1) on Saturday night in the Mullins Center. The Huskies at one point were down 4-0 in the second period until they put up three unanswered goals in a comeback attempt.
Both Solow and McDonough's goals came on the power play and the Huskies are now 12-for-41 with the advantage this season.
Grant Jozefek had two assists, while
Jayden Struble,
Gunnarwolfe Fontaine and
Michael Kesselring all added assists as well. Struble leads the team with seven assists.
Connor Murphy stopped 32 shots on the night.
UMass came out strong in the first period with goals from Jerry Harding, Matthew Kessel and Zac Jones. Kessel's goal came on a penalty shot, which was the first penalty shot against the Huskies since February 25, 2017 at Maine. Carson Gicewicz grew the Minutemen's lead in the second to 4-0. UMass closed it out in the final seconds with an empty net goal.
Northeastern looks to get back on track next week.
