NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Skylar Fontaine tallied three points (2 goals, 1 assist) andÂ
Gwyneth Philips posted her first shutout win of the season between the pipes, fourth of her career, to lead No. 4 Northeastern (11-1-1 HEA) to a 6-0 shutout win over Merrimack (1-11-0 HEA) on Saturday at Lawler Rink. The Huskies are on an 11-game unbeaten streak (10-0-1)Â and have not allowed a goal in over 260 minutes.
Northeastern had five different goal scorers in the game, including two from Fontaine,
Emma Jurusik,
Mia Brown,
Megan Carter and
Katie Cipra. It was Jurusik's first career goal for the Huskies and
Alina Mueller added two assists. The three-point game for Fontaine was her first of the season, fifth of her career, and first since tallying three points in the Hockey East semifinal win over Maine (3/7/20).
The Huskies outshot the Warriors, 36-21. Northeastern took control of the game with three first-period goals, and Philips made 21 saves and improved to 7-0-0 in her career, 2-0-0 this season.
Hockey East will continue to release the upcoming schedule every Tuesday. The Huskies stand atop of Hockey East standings with 33 points.
