Northeastern Athletics And Recreation Announces In-Arena Policies For 2021-22

BOSTON – Northeastern University and the athletics department, in its continued commitment to maintaining the health and safety of the Northeastern community, has announced a series of policies for indoor athletic events for the 2021-22 season.

Beginning on October 16, the policies and procedures will be in effect for all athletic events at Matthews Arena and the Cabot Center for men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, swimming and diving and volleyball.

Northeastern Athletics will require that guests aged 12 and older who attend campus indoor athletic events present proof of full vaccination or have a negative COVID-19 (PCR or antigen) test result within 72 hours of the event date.

Additionally, the City of Boston's indoor mask mandate will remain in effect until further notice.

To attend an in-person event, please be prepared to:
• Present proof of full vaccination for COVID-19, two weeks after the second dose in a two-dose vaccine series, or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. For current Northeastern students, faculty and staff, presenting a valid Husky Card meets this requirement. For the public, proof may be the original CDC vaccination record card, a copy of said record, or a mobile photograph of the card.

• Present a matching photo identification card with the same name as the COVID-19 vaccination card (State Issued Driver's License, State Issued ID Card or Passport).

• Any individuals who are not fully vaccinated, or cannot locate their vaccination record, may instead produce a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) with the negative test result and collection date and time stamp within 72 hours of the event. Tests must be administered by a healthcare professional that includes their name and the date of the test as proof. Self-administered at-home rapid/antigen tests will not be accepted.

• In accordance with the City of Boston's indoor mask mandate, all guests over the age of 2 regardless of vaccination or COVID-19 negative test status are required to wear a mask that completely covers their nose and mouth at all times. Guests may only remove their masks when actively eating or drinking.

• Guests failing to adhere the policies listed above may be subject to disciplinary measures including removal from the venue.

Policies will continue to be reviewed and updated on an ongoing basis in collaboration with University and public health officials. This policy does not apply to outdoor athletic events (baseball, men's and women's cross country, field hockey, men's and women's rowing or men's and women's soccer).
