Benjamin Klingen, the No. 2 seed Northeastern men's soccer team (11-6-2, 5-2-1 CAA) was unable to overcome a penalty kick goal in a 1-0 loss to No. 3 seed Elon (9-7-2, 4-2-2 CAA) in the semifinals of the CAA Championship on Thursday night.
- The first half ended in a scoreless tie as the Huskies held the Phoenix to just one shot in 45 minutes.
- Despite losing, the Huskies dominated the game by outshooting Elon 18-5 and putting more shots on target by a margin of 6-2.
- Northeastern also led the Phoenix in corner kicks, 8-4, getting more chances around the net.
- Munch had two shots on target, while four other Huskies each registered one on target.
- Sophomore midfielder Federico Tellez was also lively offensively, recording four shots on the evening.
- This game was the first postseason match for Head Coach Chris Gbandi after the best regular season of his coaching career where he earned 11 wins.
