No. 17 Northeastern Takes No. 14 Providence in Shootout Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I. –
 Aidan McDonough scored the shootout game winner, a goal and recorded three points while Zach Solow finished with a pair of goals and three points to lead No. 17 Northeastern (9-7-3 Hockey East) to a shootout victory over No. 14 Providence (10-7-5 Hockey East), 3-3 (2-0 in shootout) on Sunday at Schneider Arena.

McDonough finished February with seven goals, four assists and a shootout game winner. The sophomore has 10 goals and nine assists on the season. McDonough also notched his second shootout game winner of the season with both coming against Providence and Gunnarwolfe Fontaine also had his second shootout goal of the season.

A night after reaching point 100, Solow adds to his historic Northeastern career with 103 career points and now has 23 points on the season.
 
Connor Murphy finished with 31 saves and two stops on shootouts. Murphy has stopped all eight shootout shooters he's seen this season and the Huskies are 3-0 in shootouts.
 
Jordan Harris provided an assist on McDonough's power play goal and recorded two blocks for the Huskies' defense. Grant Jozefek also tallied his 11th helper of the season.
 
After a scoreless first period, the Huskies took a 3-2 lead over Providence behind goals from Solow and McDonough. Providence evened the score in the third period with a goal from Greg Printz. 
 
The Friars were led by Patrick Moynihan and Chase Yoder each with a goal and an assist. Jaxson Stauber had 19 saves in the shootout loss.

This is the second time the Huskies have beat the Friars in a shootout this season.
