SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Sophomore
Tessa McClain won the women's 5K race with a time of 17:55.90 and junior
Patrick Mullen finished the men's 5K race in second with a time of 15:22.10 to lead the Northeastern men's and women's cross country teams at the Nassaney Invitational on Saturday at Bryant University. The men's and women's teams both placed second overall.
- The women's team had three top five finishers, including McClain. Sophomore Azza Borovicka-Swanson claimed third place with a time of 18:10.30 while sophomore Abigail Hassman finished in fifth with a time of 18:17.70.
- Freshmen Nicole Dunbury and Shannon Trevor both finished in the top 20. Dunbury earned 10th place with a time of 18:42.10 and Trevor finished in 17th with a time of 19:13.90.
- Junior Nicholas Young joined Mullen in the top five finishers for the men's race, running a personal-best time of 15:23.10 to finish in fourth. Sophomore Tyler Brogan rounded out the top 10 with an eighth-place time of 15:27.70.
- Freshmen Evan Reynolds (15:28.90) and Joseph Thumann (15:29.70) placed 11th and 12th. Junior Anders Narita claimed 20th place with a personal-best time of 15:44.30.
The Northeastern men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Friday, September 24 at the Coast to Coast Battle in Beantown at Boston College.
