ST. ALBANS, Vt. – Freshman
Benjamin Godish finished first in the men's 8K with a time of 25:06.80 and freshman
Meaera Shannon finished seventh in the women's 5K with a time of 18:38.70 to lead the Northeastern men's and women's cross country teams in the Vermont Invitational on Saturday at Hard'Ack Recreation Area. The men's team claimed the first-place spot overall while the women finished in the third place.
- Senior Matthew Schaefer, sophomore Patrick Cullen and freshman Joseph Thumann also finished in the top ten for the men's 8K race.
- Schaefer finished in third with a personal-best time of 25:27.40 while Cullen claimed the ninth-place spot with a time of 25:35.40. Thumann ran a time of 25:43.70 to finish in eighth.
- Freshman Kyle Sarney finished in 13th place overall in the men's race with a time 26:03.70.
- Sophomore Ava Duggan earned a ninth-place finish in the women's 5K race with a time 19:05.10.
- Junior Anna Schaller and freshman Morgan Colon rounded out the top 20 in the women's race. Schaller finished in 15th place with a time of 19:21.80 while Colon ran a time of 19:36.70, to finish in 18th place.
- The men's team defeated UMass Lowell, who are ranked at No. 4 in the 2021 preseason USTFCCCA Men's Cross Country Northeast Regional Rankings.
The Huskies will be back in action at the Nassaney Invitational, hosted by Bryant University, on Saturday, Sept. 11.
