No. 15/17 Northeastern Takes A Tie With Maine

ORONO, Maine – The No. 15/17 Northeastern Huskies took it to a shootout with the Maine Black Bears after ending regulation in a 2-2 tie.

  • Through the first 40 minutes of action, both teams were unable to convert on numerous scoring opportunities.
  • In the first two periods, Northeastern outshot Maine, 39- 24, and the Huskies' penalty kill stopped all four attempts for the Black Bears.
  • The Huskies hit the third period hard, scoring two early goals. Riley Hughes tabbed his first of the season, for a 1-0 lead, with a quick back-handed goal. His linemates Matt DeMelis and Jack Williams were credited with the assists.
  • No sooner after, Jakov Novak buried the second goal of the period for the Huskies from the slot off a pass from Justin Hryckowian.
  • The Black Bears were able to tie the game, 2-2, in the late half of the third period to send the game to overtime and eventually shootout.
