Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

No. 18 Northeastern Falls in Nashville to No. 15 Western Michigan

NASHVILLE— The No. 18 Northeastern men's hockey team battled back from being down 3-1, but ultimately fell to the No. 15 Western Michigan Broncos, 6-4, on Friday evening at Ford Ice Center.
  • Northeastern fell behind 1-0 as the Broncos found the back of the net just over five minutes into the first frame. The captain, Aidan McDonough, then leveled the score at 1-1 after finishing a feed from Justin Hryckowian.
  • Western Michigan would close out the first period scoring with another tally with just over three minutes left. As the second period got underway, the Broncos upped their lead to two goals with a goal at the 9:19 mark.
  • The Huskies caught fire at the end of the second frame, scoring twice within 41 seconds to even the score at 3-3. First, Jack Williams scored with assists from Sam Colangelo and Vinny Borgesi. Matt Choupani then lit the lamp on the power-play with assists from McDonough and Jeremie Bucheler.
  • As the third period began, McDonough got his second goal of the evening, with Jackson Dorrington and Hryckowian claiming assists, to give the Huskies a 4-3 lead.
  • Western Michigan went on to score three unanswered goals including an empty-netter to win the game, 6-4.
  • Netminder Devon Levi finished his day with 33 saves, including one on a Western Michigan penalty shot in the second frame.
  • Hunter McDonald and Braden Doyle each led the Huskies with four blocks.
The Huskies will continue their road swing, next taking on Union on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
