Northeastern Falls in CAA Championship to Hofstra in Double Overtime

BROOKLINE, Mass.— The Northeastern women's soccer team fell in double overtime to the Hofstra Pride, 2-1, in the CAA Championship game on Saturday afternoon at Parsons Field.

Following the match, senior Porter Dooley, freshman Vivian Akyirem and senior Alexis Legowski were named to the CAA All-Tournament Team.
  • The first half remained scoreless for both sides. Junior Faith Rosenblatt had the play of the opening stanza for the Huskies, making a diving block to prevent a wide-open Hofstra look on goal.
  • The Pride opened the scoring in the game with a goal in the 61st minute of the second. Legowski then tied the game at 1-1 with a header goal off a free kick from senior Jane Kaull in the 80th minute.
  • The two teams ended regulation tied at 1-1 and headed to overtime. The first 10 minute overtime was scoreless for both sides, but Hofstra eventually broke the deadlock and scored the game-winner in the 109th minute.
  • Graduate student goalkeeper Holland Stam finished with seven saves on the day.
The Huskies end their season with a 10-6-4 mark overall and a 5-2-2 record in conference.
