BURLINGTON, Vt. - In their last mid-week game of the regular season, the no. 13-ranked Northeastern Huskies (22-11-1, 13-8-1) fell to the Vermont Catamounts (7-23-2, 5-15-2) by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday evening at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
- Neither team could get much offense going in the first period as the Catamounts outshot the Huskies 9-5 in the opening frame.
- Northeastern was whistled for the first penalty of the game 10:33 into the second period. The Catamounts would capitalize late in the power play as they tucked a loose rebound into the net for the 1-0 lead.
- The Huskies attempted to get one back themselves on the power play but their first chance was cut short by a following penalty, and their second chance yielded a quality take on net, but it was saved.
- Northeastern tried to answer back in the third, outshooting Vermont 8-5 in the final frame looking to mount their fourth comeback victory of the season, but the Catamount defense held strong.
- Sophomore netminder Devon Levi stopped 26 of Vermont's 27 shots on target in the loss (18-8-1).
- With the loss the Huskies remain tied for second place in Hockey East with their final regular season conference opponent, Merrimack College.
The Huskies will face the Warriors in a home-and-home series this Friday and Saturday, March 4 and 5. Friday night's contest is at 7pm at Matthews Arena, where Northeastern will honor its senior class. Saturday's contest at Lawler Rink in North Andover is also at 7 pm.
