Aidan McDonough led the Huskies to a 1-0 victory over #11 Merrimack in their first game of 2023 at Matthews Arena.
- In a tough 20-minute battle to open the game, both teams remained scoreless as the Huskies outshot the Warriors 13-9.
- As the second period rolled on, Northeastern was able to find numerous shot attempts while continuing to outshoot Merrimack 24-17.
- With just 1:32 left in regulation, the captain himself found his way into the slot for a wrist shot to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead. McDonough, with his 17th goal of the season and second game-winner, sealed Northeastern's victory with helpers from Liam Walsh and Jayden Struble.
- Netminder Devon Levi finished the night with 37 saves for his 12th win and fourth shutout of the season.
- Jack Williams led the team with two blocks and Justin Hryckowian tallied 14 faceoff wins to lead both teams.
Northeastern will rest up this next weekend before hosting Boston College on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Matthews Arena. This is the fourth matchup this season between the two programs.
