Mueller Sets Hockey East Record, No. 7 Northeastern Downs Holy Cross 4-0

BOSTON— Graduate student Alina Mueller scored the game-winning goal as the No. 7 Northeastern women's hockey team downed the Holy Cross Crusaders, 4-0, on Friday night at Matthews Arena. Mueller's goal was her 168th career point in Hockey East play, helping her pass Husky great Kendall Coyne Schofield for sole possession of the all-time Hockey East points record.

Senior goaltender Gwyneth Philips posted her NCAA-leading ninth-shutout of the season, making 16 saves against the Crusaders.
  • Mueller's tally came just 1:35 into the game off a feed out from junior Molly Griffin. Graduate student Maureen Murphy also picked up an assist on the play. Northeastern took a 1-0 lead into the second frame.
  • In the second, the Husky power-play came alive with two goals on the advantage. Senior Peyton Anderson potted the first power-play tally with helpers from graduate student Chloé Aurard and junior Abbey Marohn. Graduate student Maude Poulin-Labelle then put the Huskies up 3-0 with her fourth goal of the season. Senior Megan Carter and sophomore Skylar Irving picked up assists on Poulin-Labelle's goal.
  • Carter closed out the scoring in the third frame to bring the final score to 4-0 in favor of the Huskies. Murphy and Aurard each tallied their second assists of the night on the goal.
  • Northeastern outshot the Crusaders 51-16. Philips posted her 24th victory of the season for the Huskies.
Up next, Northeastern will take on New Hampshire on Thursday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. for the annual skating strides game.
