PROVIDENCE, R.I. – With his first hat trick of the season, senior
Alex Campbell helped the Northeastern Huskies to a 4-1 victory over the Brown University Bears on Saturday night.
Â
- Northeastern hit the ground running against Brown, taking an early 1-0 lead just 5:58 into the first period. As he collected the loose puck, junior Justin Hryckowian found Campbell for a bardown breakaway to tally his seventh goal of the season.
- An unlucky bounce for the Bears tied the game at 1-1 entering the second period.
- The Huskies turned things around late in the middle frame to take back the lead. Freshman Dylan Hryckowian found himself on the winning side of a neutral zone battle to connect with sophomore Jack Williams for a short-handed breakaway.
- One more goal was added to give Northeastern a 3-1 advantage before the second intermission. This time on the power play, Campbell netted his second of the night from Justin Hryckowian and graduate student Pito Walton.
- With neither team scoring through majority of the third frame, with 1:12 left to play Campbell scored the hat trick goal on an empty net to clinch the 4-1 win. Credited with the assist were graduate student Liam Walsh and Williams, his second point of the night.
- Picking up his fifth win of the season, netminder Cameron Whitehead finished 60 minutes of action with 35 saves.
- Campbell led the way with five shots, while Justin Hryckowian and Williams both tallied nine faceoff wins.
Â
Northeastern will head into the semester break before they head to Milwaukee, Wis. for the 2023 Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off. The Huskies will take on Minnesota Duluth in the opening round of the tournament on Dec. 26.
