Mueller Sets Program Record, No. 5 Huskies Advance to Seventh-Straight Hockey East Championship

POSTGAME PRESS CONFERENCE

BOSTON –
Behind a two-goal performance from senior Peyton Anderson and a 15-save shutout from senior Gwyneth Philips, the No. 5 Northeastern women's hockey team advanced to its seventh consecutive Hockey East Championship game with a 3-0 win over No. 15 Boston College.

On an empty net goal in the final minute of action, graduate student Alina Mueller passed former Husky legend Kendall Coyne Schofield as the all-time program leader in scoring with her 250th career point.
  • Just 47 seconds into the game, the Huskies took a 1-0 lead on a goal from Anderson, the tally counted as Northeastern's quickest goal scored this season. The goal was assisted by senior Megan Carter and sophomore Taze Thompson. Northeastern took the one score advantage into the first intermission.
  • Only 1:14 after a Boston College goal was overturned due to goalie interference and a successful coaches' challenge, Anderson found the back of the net for her second goal of the night at 13:49 in the second period to put the Huskies up 2-0. The assists were to Thompson and junior Abbey Marohn.
  • Mueller put the game away with her 250th career point with just 19.5 seconds remaining to cement the 3-0 victory. The assist was to junior Lily Yovetich.
  • Philips made 15 saves for her 10th shutout of the season, tied for the second most in a single season in program history.
  • Northeastern outshot Boston College 41-15
Northeastern will be hosting its third-straight Hockey East Championship Game on Saturday, March 4 at noon on ESPNU in Matthews Arena.
