Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

No. 15/16 Northeastern Falls In Quarterfinals, 2-1, To Providence In OT

BOSTON, Mass. — A hard-fought battle into overtime was not enough as the No. 15/15 Northeastern men's hockey team fell, 2-1, to the Providence Friars in the Hockey East quarterfinal game.
  • Midway through the opening frame, the Huskies took an early 1-0 advantage over the Friars. With a beautiful wrist shot from the slot, freshman Cam Lund tallied his seventh of the season off a power-play rush from graduate student Liam Walsh and senior Jayden Struble.
  • Northeastern's defense played strong through the beginning of the second period, but with 6:49 remaining Providence evened the score, 1-1, that would carry over into the final frame.
  • A scoreless third period would send the quarterfinal game into a 20-minute overtime period. The Friars would capitalize on an early overtime opportunity to advance to the semifinals.
  • In net for the Huskies, in 64 minutes of action, junior Devon Levi tallied 32 saves. Five Huskies finished with three blocks apiece, while sophomore Justin Hryckowian won ten faceoffs.
