Huskies Shine At Inaugural PWHL Draft

TORONTO— Seven alumna of the Northeastern women's hockey team were selected at the inaugural Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) draft on Monday afternoon at the CBC Headquarters in Toronto. Draftees Alina Mueller, Maureen Murphy, Chloé Aurard, Hayley Scamurra, Brooke Hobson, Denisa Krizova and Maude Poulin-Labelle join signees Aerin Frankel and Kendall Coyne Schofield ahead of the first PWHL season.
 
Frankel was one of three players signed ahead of the draft with the Boston team, while Coyne Schofield signed with Minnesota.
 
Mueller was the first Husky off the board, after she was drafted by Boston with the third overall pick. Murphy went in round three to Montreal, while Aurard went to New York in the fourth round. Scamurra went to Ottawa in round five. Hobson and Krizova were both selected in the eighth round, going to New York and Minnesota, respectively.  The final Husky off the board was Poulin-Labelle in the 10th round to Montreal.
 
The Huskies had the most draft picks of any Hockey East school with seven and have nine total players in the league.
