ORONO, Maine— The No. 14 Northeastern women's hockey team dropped an overtime contest to the Maine Black Bears, 1-0, on Friday night at Alfond Arena. With the loss, the Huskies snap a five-game winning streak dating back to Nov. 28.Â
- Northeastern and Maine skated through a scoreless first period, with each side registering seven shots on goal. Neither side could find the back of the net in regulation.
- A minute and 11 seconds into overtime, Maine's Ida Kuoppla finished a 2-on-1 breakaway to deliver the Black Bears a 1-0 victory.
- Fifth year goaltender Gwyneth Philips put on a clinic in net and finished with 30 saves.
- Graduate student captain Megan Carter returned to the lineup against Maine.
The Huskies and Maine will close out the two-game series on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 4 p.m.
