PROVIDENCE, R.I.— The No. 14 Northeastern women's hockey team fell, 2-1, in a tightly contested Hockey East battle on Friday evening at Schneider Arena.
- Northeastern held a 9-7 advantage in shots, but neither side found a goal in the first 20 minutes of action.
- Providence got on the board first with an extra-attacker goal on a delayed penalty, a little under three minutes into the second period.
- Following a successful coaches challenge by Northeastern, the Huskies went on a five-minute power-play looking to tie up the game. Freshman Tuva Kandell notched her first career NCAA goal on strike on the power-play to tie the game at 1-1. Kandell's goal was assisted by senior Skylar Irving and freshman Éloïse Caron.
- The Friars once again took a one goal lead with just under five minutes remaining in the game. Northeastern pulled its goaltender but was unable to find the equalizer as the final score stayed at 2-1 in the Friars favor.
- Junior goaltender Paige Taborski finished with 16 saves. Junior Jules Constantinople led all players with four blocks.
Northeastern next travels to take on New Hampshire on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6 p.m.
