No. 13 Huskies Rally To Defeat UNH In OT, 4-3

BOSTON— After falling behind 3-1 in the third period, the No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team went on to score three unanswered goals in a span of two minutes and four seconds to complete the, 4-3, come-from-behind victory in overtime over the New Hampshire Wildcats. Fifth year Katy Knoll potted the game-winner to deliver Northeastern its second-straight overtime win over UNH.

The Huskies had two extra attacker goals, one from junior Taze Thompson and another from sophomore Lily Shannon to send the game to overtime. Knoll then potted the game-winner, to extend the Husky winning-streak to seven games.
  • On the first shot on goal of the game for the Huskies, freshman Peyton Compton scored. Compton's tally came two minutes and 41 seconds into the contest with assists from sophomore Lily Shannon and freshman Riley Jones.
  • A scoreless second period gave way to a five-goal third frame. New Hampshire scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead. UNH held its 3-1 lead until Thompson potted an extra attacker goal with 1:38 remaining to cut the deficit to 3-2 with assists from Shannon and sophomore Jules Constantinople.
  • Shannon then tied the game with 57 seconds remaining at 3-3 to send the game to overtime. The Huskies second extra attacker goal came with assists from Thompson and graduate student Megan Carter.
  • As overtime began the familiar trio of Knoll, Carter and junior Skylar Irving took the ice. Just 26 seconds into 3-on-3, Knoll found the back of the net for her fourth goal in as many games. Knoll's game-winner was assisted by Irving and Carter and puts her in a tie with Kendall Coyne Schofield for second in program history in game-winning goals with 20.
  • Fifth year Gwyneth Philips posted 28 saves in her 18th victory of the season.
Northeastern will next host Connecticut for its Skating Strides game on Friday, Feb. 9 at 6 p.m. in Matthews Arena.
