Justin Hryckowian, Huskies Earn Hockey East Postseason Awards

AMESBURY, Mass. — Junior Justin Hryckowian and the No. RV/20 Northeastern men's hockey team earned honors from Hockey East as the league unveiled its preliminary postseason award selections on Wednesday. Hryckowian was named the Gladiator Custom Mouthguards Best Defensive Forward, while the Northeastern Huskies earned the 2024 Charlie Holt Team Sportsmanship Award.

In back-to-back seasons, Hryckowian is named the Best Defensive Forward by the league, becoming the first-ever two-time recipient in Hockey East history. The captain posted a career-high 38 points from 11 goals and a career-high 27 assists during the regular season. Hryckowian continues to lead the conference in faceoff wins (280) and faceoff win percentage (62.2), among skaters with a minimum of 150 attempts.

His 33 blocks on the year edged all NU forwards, while his plus-21 rating leads the entire Northeastern roster. This season, the Quebec native was named Hockey East Player of the Week (Feb. 12) after helping the Huskies defeat Harvard, 3-2 in overtime, of the Beanpot semifinals, tallying one goal and two assists.

In addition to Hryckowian, the Northeastern Huskies earned the Charlie Holt Team Sportsmanship Award, which is given to the team that accrued the fewest average penalty minutes per Hockey East game.
