Philips Tabbed Goalie Of The Year Finalist

BOSTON— For the second straight year, fifth year Gwyneth Philips of the No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team has been named one of three finalists for the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association 2024 Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award.

Voting was carried out by a panel of coaches, administrators and members of the media from across the country. Philips is joined as a finalist by Raygan Kirk of Ohio State and Michelle Pasiechnyk of Clarkson.

The reigning winner of the award, Philips owns a 1.19 goals against average and .953 save percentage on the season, good for the fourth and second-best marks in the nation, respectively. Philips has played in 36 games this season, and her 1.19 GAA and .953 save percentage leads the nation among goaltenders with over 20 games played.

The lone goaltender to be selected as a Top-10 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award finalist, Philips has allowed one goal or less in 26 of her 36 starts this year. Her six shutouts on the season rank tied for the third-best mark in the country.

Philips has played the second-most minutes of any goaltender in the country this season and her 23 wins are tied for third in the NCAA. She has made 25 or more saves in 19 games and has made 873 saves on the season. Her 873 saves are the sixth-best mark in single-season program history and the most by a Northeastern goaltender since the 2014-15 season.

The Athens, Ohio native owns a career .958 save percentage, the best mark in NCAA history.  She is the active career NCAA leader in save percentage (.958), goals against average (.97) and shutouts (22).

In addition to being named a finalist for the Goalie of the Year, this season she was also named a Top-10 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award finalist, Hockey East's Goaltender of the Year, a Hockey East First Team All-Star, Hockey East's Three Star Award winner, a National Goalie of the Year Semifinalist, the Bertagna Award winner (Beanpot top goalie), a seven-time Hockey East Goaltender of the Week and a three-time Hockey East Goaltender of the Month.

The Goalie of the Year Award was established in 2021 and all three winners to date have come from Northeastern University: Aerin Frankel (2021 and 2022) and Gwyneth Philips (2023).
