No. 13 Northeastern Falls In Hockey East Championship To No. 10 Connecticut, 1-0, In OT

STORRS, Conn.— The No. 13 Northeastern women's hockey team fell in the Hockey East Championship game 1-0 in overtime to No. 10 Connecticut on Saturday afternoon at the Toscano Family Ice Forum. Fifth year netminder Gwyneth Philips was outstanding in goal, finishing with a career-high 51 saves.
 
Graduate student Peyton Anderson and sophomore Jules Constantinople were named to the All-Tournament team.
  • Both sides skated through two scoreless periods with UConn holding a slight 23-19 edge in shots on goal.
  • In the third period, Northeastern was whistled for two penalties back-to-back, and then a five-minute major and a game misconduct was issued to graduate student Megan Carter. NU successfully killed almost seven consecutive minutes of power-play action for UConn, including two minutes of a 5-on-3. The game would head to overtime at the conclusion of the third.
  • With 35 seconds remaining in overtime, Megan Woodworth scored to give UConn a 1-0 victory.
The Huskies end their season with a 25-11-3 record.
