LOWELL, Mass. – In a midweek non-conference contest, the Northeastern Huskies (1-4-4) and the UMass Lowell Riverhawks (5-1-3) played to a 0-0 draw at Cushing Field on Tuesday evening.
- Both teams tallied five shots in the opening half – Northeastern's best two scoring chances in the half came in the 19th minute, when a midfield turnover resulted in a Tomas Sciarra chance that was saved, and in the 35th when Sebastian Restrepo got the ball in the box but defensive pressure forced the shot out for a goal kick.
- A great build-up in the 52nd minute ended with Restrepo getting space in the box to shoot, but his curling shot was just barely tipped away by the Lowell keeper.
- The Huskies earned a free kick in threatening position in the 79th minute, with Morris Matthews bypassing the wall with a low sharp pass which found Kade Tepe charging into the box, but his shot was saved.
- NU ended the game with a 5-4 shot-on-goal advantage, after earning three corner kicks in the second half.
- Northeastern handed UMass Lowell, a team averaging 1.8 goals per game, its first shutout of the season. Goalkeeper Colby Hegarty made four saves in his second shutout of the season.
The Huskies return to conference play this Friday, September 27
