BROOKLINE, Mass. – In a Sunday afternoon CAA contest, the Northeastern Huskies (0-7-4, 0-2-1 CAA) fell to the Monmouth Hawks (6-1-4, 2-0-1) by a score of 2-1 at Parsons Field.
- The Hawks struck first on a cross from the right side of the box, when the bobbled pass found the foot of a Monmouth striker and was converted for the opening goal.
- The Huskies struck back in the 13th minute with Jessie Hunt's 25th career assist – she took a pass from Maggie Cochran in the midfield and lofted a cross over the back line to Avery Levangie in the box. Levangie settled it and took a left-footed shot that beat the keeper at the right post for tie the game at 1-1.
- Monmouth retook the lead in the 29th minute on a long clearance that bounced through the defense and found a Monmouth winger who tucked the long-range shot into the lower-right corner of the net for the 2-1 lead.
- Neither side found the back of the net in the second half – the Huskies out-shot the Hawks 9-5 in the second half, 5-0 on target, but were unable to find the equalizer.
- Jessie Hunt's 25th career assist ties the program record set by Kayla Cappuzzo (2014-17).
The Huskies continue CAA play this Thursday, October 3
rd at 7 p.m. as they head to South Carolina to face the College of Charleston on FloFC.
