PROVIDENCE— Despite goals from
Avery LeVangie and
Sofie Fox, the Northeastern women's soccer team was edged by the Providence Friars, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Chapey Field.
- Providence jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, but LeVangie scored her first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 42nd minute. Bri Jablonowski played the ball to LeVangie who beat her defender for a wide-open look at the goal. Jablonowski's assist was her first career point as a Husky.
- In the second half, the Friars scored in the 67th minute to push their lead back to two. Fox kept up the Husky pressure with her first goal of the season in the 82nd minute, putting home a ball from Jessie Hunt's free kick. With Fox's goal, the final score ended at 3-2 in favor of the Friars. Â
- Eliza Teplow made two saves in goal and Sophie Theresia Augustin had three saves for the Huskies.
Northeastern next returns home to Parsons Field to celebrate Senior Day against Bryant on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m.
