BOSTON, Mass. — The Northeastern men's hockey team was unable to erase a 2-0 deficit after 40 minutes, falling 5-0 to the UMass Minutemen at Matthews Arena on Friday night.
	- The Minutemen men took a 1-0 advantage just 5:16 into the contest. UMass then made it 2-0 on an odd-man rush in the opening minute of the second period.
- The score remained 2-0 until 2:32 into the final frame when the Minutemen would go on to add three unanswered goals, including an empty netter.
- Northeastern led in shots, 41-30, and two-for-two on the penalty kill.
- In net, sophomore Cameron Whitehead finished the contest with 25 saves.
- Junior Cam Lund lead all skaters with 16 faceoff wins, while junior Jackson Dorrington led both teams with three blocks.
- The defenseman pair of Dorrington and junior Vinny Borgesi totaled 12 shots, tallying six each.
Northeastern will be back in action tomorrow night (Sat., Jan. 11) when they travel to Mullins Center to close out their weekend series with UMass.
