BROOKLINE, Mass. – A goal from
Kade Tepe in the 47th minute and a dominating performance by
Tobias Jahn (one save) and the Northeastern defense sent the men's soccer team (4-6-3, 2-4-1) past Drexel (4-4-5, 2-3-1) on Saturday afternoon at Parsons Field, 1-0.
Â
The victory keeps Northeastern in playoff contention with one conference game remaining against Stony Brook on November 1.
Â
After a scoreless first half in which Northeastern controlled the tempo for the majority of play, the Huskies struck first when
Jaden Prado sent the ball in from the left side to a streaking Tepe, who buried it past Dragons goalkeeper Owen Moore (two saves) for his first of the season.
Â
The Huskies defense was stifling all afternoon, limiting Drexel to just five shot attempts (one on goal).
Â
Prior to the game, Northeastern honored its five seniors for their dedication to the men's soccer program and the Northeastern community: Jahn, Tepe,
Matty Gardner,
Morris Matthews and
Fraser Brown.
Â
The Huskies will be back in action on Tuesday night when Northeastern hosts Albany in the final regular season match at Parsons Field. Game time is set for 6 p.m. on FloCollege.
