Vinny Borgesi of the No. 14 Northeastern men's hockey team has been named to the United States Collegiate Selects Team roster for the 2025 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland.
The United States Collegiate Selects are set to open Spengler Cup action on December 26, facing Team Canada in their tournament debut. Over the course of the six-day event, each team will compete in a minimum of three and up to five games. Competition runs from December 26-31, 2025.
Borgesi is off to a hot start for NU, captaining the team to a 5-1-0 record with three wins over ranked opponents, while scoring one goal and two assists for three points. A defensive anchor for the Huskies since he arrived on Huntington Ave. as a freshman, Borgesi has tallied 12 goals, 51 assists and 63 points in 105 games played. A two-time Hockey East All-Academic team and two-time Team Defensive MVP, Borgesi will be making his first appearance while at Northeastern at a tournament for Team USA.
The 2025 Spengler Cup will be broadcast in more than 20 countries, either through official partners or via live stream. Details on viewing options in the United States will be shared once finalized.
The United States Collegiate Selects roster will feature 25 student-athletes representing NCAA men's ice hockey programs from across the nation for the first time in the 102-year history of the Spengler Cup. The field includes six teams: the Collegiate Selects, host HC Davos, Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gottéron, Sparta Praha, and IFK Helsinki.
