Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Northeastern Downs Providence To Advance To Hockey East Semifinals

PROVIDENCE, R.I.— Two-point outings from junior Jules Constantinople and sophomore Allie Lalonde propelled the fifth-seeded Northeastern women's hockey team to a 3-2 victory over the fourth-seeded Providence College Friars in the Hockey East Quarterfinals on Saturday night at Schneider Arena. The Huskies advance to the Hockey East Semifinals and will travel to face No. 12 and top-seeded Connecticut on Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m.
  • The Huskies opened the scoring in the second period, jumping out to a 2-0 lead with two goals a minute and five seconds apart. Senior Skylar Irving scored the Huskies' first goal with a power-play tally. Her goal was assisted by Constantinople and freshman Éloïse Caron.
  • Sophomore Allie Lalonde pushed the Northeastern lead to two with her goal, assisted by graduate student Jaden Bogden and Constantinople.
  • Providence cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal at the 2:04 mark of the third period.
  • Sophomore Ella Blackmore gave the Huskies back a two-goal lead with a tally at the 7:18 mark. Blackmore's eventual game-winner was reviewed on the ice and called a good goal after it was initially called off on the ice. She had helpers from sophomore Rylie Jones and Lalonde.
  • The Friars scored again in the third frame to bring the final score to 3-2, but were unable to find the equalizer as Northeastern picked up its first win in Schneider Arena since Oct. 28, 2022.
  • Freshman netminder Lisa Jönsson picked up her first Hockey East Tournament victory, making 22 saves.
The Huskies will travel to face UConn in Toscano Family Forum on Wednesday, March 5 at 6 p.m.
