Three Huskies Earn CAA Leadership & Sport Excellence Award

RICHMOND, Va. – Northeastern Athletics had three student-athletes named 2024-25 CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award winners in their respective sports, including Firinne Rolfe (Women's Rowing), Savion Thompson (Men's Track & Field) and Hope Belvit (Women's Track & Field).

The award mimics the Chuck Boone Leadership Award in football and the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award in men's and women's basketball. One student-athlete, who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership, and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements, was selected in each of the other sports sponsored by the Conference. Nominees must be at the junior, senior or graduate academic level.

Firinne Rolfe | Women's Rowing
Rolfe is a senior and four-year member of the Northeastern Women's Rowing program. During her career, she sat in the Huskies' varsity eight boat that won four consecutive CAA Rowing Championship titles and made four consecutive NCAA Rowing Championship appearances. With a bachelor's degree in sociology, Rolfe achieved a 3.88 GPA that earned her Dean's List honors eight times, Northeastern Top Dog accolades six times and was recognized as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete three times. In the community, Rolfe volunteered for numerous community service initiatives, including working as a project lead for the Safe Passage Project.

Savion Thompson | Men's Track & Field
A graduate student for the Northeastern Men's Track & Field team, Thompson was the CAA individual championship in long jump and finished second in the triple jump in 2021 on his way to earning All-CAA honors. He also saw the Huskies to four CAA Outdoor Track & Field titles. Thompson earned his bachelor's degree in health science and business administration and received a master's degree in public health, achieving a 3.929 GPA. A three-time Northeastern Top Dog recipient, Thompson has been an active member of NU'S Student-Athlete Advisory Committee initiating Northeastern's first Black Athlete Caucus and is an ambassador for NU's Public Health program.

Hope Belvit | Women's Track & Field
Belvit, a graduate student with Northeastern Men's Track & Field, is a 2025 CAA Indoor Gold Medalist in weight throw and a 2024 CAA Outdoor Silver Medalist in hammer throw following her efforts at the league championships. In both events, she ranks among the Northeastern's all-time top 10, coming in at fifth (weight throw) and tenth (hammer throw). A six-time Dean's List honoree and three-time NU Top Dog, Belvit accumulated a 3.74 GPA while earning a bachelor's degree in business administration and communications. Belvit served as team captain during the 2024-25 season and as the president of Northeastern's Black Athlete Caucus.
